Deputies in the Assembly of Serbia can choose which parliamentary friendship groups to join, and the goal is to improve relations and cooperation between our two countries.

Judging by the number of members, there is the most interest in cooperation with Russia and China (these groups have 143 and 124 deputies), while the parliamentary group of friendship with the US is in third place (101 members).

The Committee on Foreign Affairs makes a decision about forming a group, appoints its chair, as well as membership, gives consent on visits and keeps records of membership in parliamentary friendship groups.

Who deputies like the most, which groups have most members?

Judging by the parliamentary friendship groups, Serbian parliamentarians love Russia the most. As many as 143, out of a total of 250 MPs, have joined this team, Novosti writes. Thus, the group whose task is to further develop cooperation with the Russian Federation is by far the most numerous out of the 114 groups that have been formed.

The second is the friendship group with China, which gathers 124 deputies, and the third with the United States with 101 members. The president of the Russia team is Milovan Drecun from the SNS, the Chinese group is chaired by Socialist Zarko Obradovic, while the US one is headed by Dragan Sormaz (SNS).

All other group have less than 100 members. Among the more numerous ones are the friendship group with Italy, which gathers 83 deputies, and with Greece, which has one less. Next are those who want to cooperate with France - 81, the United Arab Emirates - 71, Turkey - 70...

Among the groups with less than ten members are those with Bolivia, Iceland, Lebanon, Malaysia and Micronesia, each with three deputies, Latvia and Tajikistan with eight each, Bhutan, Guatemala and Malawi with six each, Gambia, Guyana, Estonia and Cape Verde, Pakistan, and Djibouti five each, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea - eight, El Salvador - four, Kenya - nine...

The friendship group with the Holy See has 11 members, as many as there are in the team for cooperation with the Sovereign Order of Malta.

Relations with countries in the region

When it comes to the countries we border with, 58 deputies joined the group of friendships with Montenegro, two less with Bosnia and Herzegovina, 49 with Hungary, followed by North Macedonia (36), ​​Bulgaria (34), Romania (28), and finally Albania - 16.
