Speaking about vaccines and vaccination, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic announced the procurement of an additional shipment of Pfizer vaccines, but also the possibility that the Russian ones will arrive by the end of the year.

"We expect another 76,000-77,000 Pfizer vaccines during January, and each seven days from January 4 until 25, Pfizer vaccines will be arriving in our country. The plan is that immediately after the vaccination of people in gerontological centers, because those people are the most endangered, we will move on, and already now we are moving on to a portion of those who work in the Covid system, who have not had coronavirus and don't have the antibodies. I believe that in January, we will be able to vaccinate and protect most of the people who work in the Covid system, and thus we will have protected the healthcare system and our hospitals."

The Russian vaccine is still waiting for the permit of the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (ALIMS).

"We expect the first quantities of the vaccines from Russia to arrive in our country before the end of the year, too, but that means nothing until we get the ALIMS permit. We can talk about administering that vaccine only when it gets the permission from our competent medical services."

Negotiations are also underway with other manufacturers.

"We expect additional significant quantities of vaccines from other countries. We are negotiating with some other western producers, but of course we are also negotiating with Chinese producers, and I hope that they will soon register their vaccines so that we can buy them in the market," he said.

Shortly after 1 pm, Aleksandar Vucic began his address at the New Year's conference and presented the results of his work. Ministers Zlatibor Loncar and Darija Kisic Tepavcevic were present with him at the news conference.

The president summarized the challenges facing Serbia, the results in the fight against coronavirus, spoke about foreign policy, as well as key plans for 2021.
