Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and its Serb member, Milorad Dodik, was today released from the hospital for home treatment after fighting coronavirus for 16 days. He addressed journalists after leaving the RS (Serb Republic) University Clinical Center (UKC) in Banja Luka, and shared his experiences about the two-week hospital treatment.

The director of the UKC RS, Vlado Djajic, said that Dodik had bilateral pneumonia and that by working together, in consultation with doctors from Serbia, he emerged from this battle successfully.

Dodik thanked everyone for their dedicated work and approach, which he had not seen in a long time.

"People were always there, like me. They dealt with us patients. And I am grateful to everyone. This was my hardest 25 days. When I listen to Dr. Djajic and his team, I see that it was quite serious. I am grateful to the people, the support staff, the teams of doctors from Serbia, Slovenia, the US and everyone who was there, not only for me, but also there helping everyone. I am convinced that this is a reference health institution," Dodik said of the UKC.

He added that those were difficult days for him and his family, and that a period of rehabilitation awaits him now. His message for everyone is to be careful.

"Don't be naive. When Dr. Djajic told me that he went to church and lit a candle for me, I was aware of where I stood. It was problematic. This is my big victory, but also of a team of people. The support pleased me and gave me strength. It didn't let me succumb. I feel pretty well. I will slowly regain my physical strength. I've been following current events a bit. I felt the (Croatia) earthquake, I am sorry about the tragedy in Posusje. I believe that we will gather together, find our strength and be strong," said Dodik.

He also thanked Aleksandar Vucic, Chinese President Xi Jinping, but also Sergei Lavrov who all offered their help.
