A total of 78 defendants have been brought before the Misdemeanor Court in Belgrade because of Saturday night's rioting in Beton Hala, of which 45 have been convicted.

"The procedure against 33 persons continues regularly, because the applicant for the misdemeanor procedure did not ensure the presence of witnesses," the president of the court, Olivera Ristanovic, told Tanjug.

Out of the 45 resolved cases, the misdemeanor judge ruled to acquit six persons, Ristanovic added.

Ten suspects who were arrested for the criminal act of violent behavior will be questioned today in the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, the prosecutor's office told Tanjug.

The defendants who have been convicted of misdemeanors so far have been fined 30,000 dinars for misdemeanor, rude and reckless behavior, or 10,000 dinars for disturbing public order and peace.

These are adult citizens, but there were also minors among those detained, who will be held responsible separately.

The incident occurred on Saturday night after Red Star football club celebrated winning the Serbian championship in the presence of several thousand fans, when a sizable group separated and started rioting in the Beton Hala venue, where guests were sitting in restaurant gardens.

The rioters smashed windows and inventory, and inflicted injuries on a number of people, the prosecution said.
