The session of the Government of Serbia, which was held today in the town of Krusevac, ended at around 10:30 am.

In addition to the prime minister and ministers, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, also attended the session.

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that it is necessary to solve the problem of unemployment in Krusevac, as well as to invest in domestic brainpower.

She added that Krusevac will have the first "digital highway."

"We think that the people in Krusevac deserve it, business conditions for young people will be better here than in central Belgrade," said Brnabic.

She stressed that in 2020, we managed to build one of the two Covid hospitals in Krusevac, in parallel with fighting the coronavirus epidemic.

"It will take us some more time to defeat the virus, but that hospital will also serve Krusevac and the entire district to reduce wait times. We spoke today about what else needs to be done for that hospital, to continue treating people even after coronavirus," said the prime minister.

Serbia's values are independence, freedom and peace

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic pointed out that there was talk today about there being many things we can be proud of.

"We need to work even more bravely, strongly, harder. The basic values of Serbia are our independence, freedom and of course - peace. Without freedom, there is no peace, our interests cannot be realized. I am proud of the fact that our country has come to the point where we can pursue a rational, serious state policy. But for us to lead it, rather than any foreign centers of power. No one can and must love our country more than us," President Vucic stressed.

As he stated, a special request made to cabinet ministers was to preserve the independence of Serbia.

"Today, when I was in Krusevac, I could not recognize it," said the president, referring to his visit to this city in the Rasina District.

"We will try to find more investors for this area, and for other municipalities of the Rasina District. We spoke about how to strengthen state-owned factories. We also spoke today about how to repair infrastructure in eastern Serbia as well. I believe that there will be nine highways in Serbia by the end of the year. We want to present the Danube River as a real attraction, because it is at its most beautiful precisely as it flows through our country," said Vucic.

Vucic said that the authorities will try to help even the most remote towns and municipalities, where there are currently no investors, nor highways.

He also stated that the session discussed strengthening our army and police, primarily in terms of equipment, weapons, and the will to fight organized crime.

The president also said that preliminary results of the economic growth rate are expected today.

"We hope that in the second quarter we can have growth rate higher than 13 percent," said Vucic and added that this would mean a significant increase in salaries and pensions.

He congratulated Vidovdan (St. Vitus Day, June 28, major Serbian feast) to all Serbs, and especially our people in Kosovo and Metohija.

The president said that the civil society of Albanians coordnates with their politics, commenting on reports that Albanians want to expel a returnee Serb woman from Djakovica (in Kosovo and Metohija).

"It's our job to fight and our determination to fight rationally must prevail going forward, so that we have many children everywhere where Serbs live in Kosovo," said Vucic.

Today, Krusevac marks Vidovdan, and the 650th anniversary of the founding of the city, and Vucic earlier in the day laid a wreath at the Monument to the Heroes of Kosovo.
