Kocovic: Serbia exited third Covid wave 4 days ago. The end of the epidemic depends on this

He says he expects that the decline in the number of new cases will be a trend for the next 15 days

Serbia came out of the third wave of coronavirus four days ago, the number of infected people continues to fall, which we call "the squeezing of the third wave of coronavirus" and the ultimate goal is to have zero new cases for 28 days when the end of the epidemic will be declared, says mathematician and professor Petar Kocovic.

Kocovic assessed for TV K1 today that the number of infected people in Serbia has a good declining trend and expressed expectation that it will be the same in the next 15 days.

"It is slowly falling, and it can also grow slowly. Please take care that coronavirus is with us and around us, waiting for the right moment to attack us," said Kocovic, who wore a mask during the show.

He stated that currently about 40 percent of the total population have received the first dose of the vaccine, about 37 percent the second, and assessed that vaccination is the only good measure.

He expects the number of immunized people in Serbia to be 44 percent before the end of August and 51 percent or more in November.

Kocovic said that the number of those who had Covid is about 10 percent, and considering that some of them are vaccinated, he estimated that this category of citizens increases the number important for collective immunity from 5.5 to six percent.

According to him, the total numbers guarantee a relatively good situation during the summer.

The professor pointed out that, although there are threats, there is no forced vaccination anywhere in the world.

"There are about one percent anti-vaxxers worldwide, and we are pretty good there. And there are about 10 percent skeptics, which put together in our country is about 600,000 citizens," said Kocovic.

He explained that skeptics want to be vaccinated but are waiting to see if the vaccine has side effects.

As he said, Serbia has a lot of unvaccinated people in rural areas, as well as in settlements inhabited by Romanis, many of whom do not have personal documents.

"We have about 400,000 people who want to be vaccinated. And about 80,000 of those who have not been vaccinated with the second dose," he said.

Kocovic, who analyzes global data on a daily basis, says that the number of infected people is currently falling in the northern hemisphere, where 87 percent of the world's population lives, which is good.

He stressed that the researchers have found out that pollution affects an increase in the number of infected people.

"Derivatives from heating materials weaken the lungs for Covid and all other infections. That connection has been established. Its more precise effect is sought through research," he said.

Kocovic added that there were no sunspots last year and that it is known that when there is no cyclical activity of the Sun, epidemics occur.

"Last year there were zero sunspots, now there are 17-20. The sun is activated, in the next 3-4 years the atmosphere will be cleaned because UVC radiation is a natural cleaner of the atmosphere," said the professor.

Kocovic also said that it is possible that, with the increased activity of the Sun and vaccination, coronavirus may be "cleansed" in the next 6-8 months.
