A severe storm that hit Serbia in the past few days caused floods and great material damage in certain parts of the country, and some municipalities have declared an emergency situation. Yesterday, this was the case in Petrovac na Mlavi, Crna Trava, as well as in 11 villages of the Lebane municipality.

A state of emergency has been declared in the part of the municipality of Petrovac na Mlavi in the villages of Dobrnje, Vosanovac, Lopusnik, Bosnjak, Tabanovac, Busur, Burovac.

The village of Dobrnje, which is located about ten kilometers from Petrovac na Mlavi, was hardest hit by the floods due to heavy rainfall in this area in the night between Saturday and Sunday.

"Large quantities of rain caused, similar to 2018, torrential waters in the settlements of Dobrnje, Vosanovac, Lopusnik, Bosnjak, Tabanovac, Busur, Burovac. In Busur itself, that is, in the lake, a controlled overflow of the dam occured, when the excess water was drained downstream from it through canals. The recent construction of a new overflow dam and auxiliary facilities - a cascade on torrents coming from nearby hills, has completely reduced the risk of major floods and damage, so they have justified their purpose," said the municipality's website.

At that time, the president of the local community of Dobrnja, Rade Dobrosavljevic, estimated that the damage was great.

"We went out and looked in the field, we assessed that the damage was around 200,000 euros, 800 meters of asphalt road leading to the cemetery has been destroyed, 20 kilometers of rural roads and 40 culverts have been destroyed," he said.

He pointed out that a big job lies ahead, not even months will be enough to fix it all and return it to the state it was a week ago.

Reportedly, it all started at four in the morning, and already at five o'clock representatives of the municipality were there, who brought trucks and excavators, so a part of the damage was repaired.

Emergency situation in the Lebane municipality as well

An emergency situation was declared yesterday in the municipality of Lebane in Konjin, Zdeglov, Lugar, Bosnjac, Pertat, Cenovac, Togovec, Donji Vranovac, Mali and Veliki Vojlovac and Cekavica, because of the situation on the ground, risk assessment and the expected further development of the situation in that area, all because of heavy rainfall, hail, and stormy winds.

"On that occasion, damage occured to agricultural crops, buildings and infrastructure," it was announced.

Public companies Komunalac and Vodovod immediately received orders to clear the roads and participate in repairing the damage using all available mechanization.

Emergency situation in two Crna Trava villages

The crisis headquarters of the municipality of Crna Trava introduced an emergency situation in two villages in that municipality today because the stormy wind with rain damaged roads and the electricity grid. As confirmed to the Media Center 016 portal, these are the villages of Darkovce and Krivi Del.

"There was a storm last night and this morning. The headquarters declared an emergency situation in the local communities of Darkovce and Krivi Del. Local roads have been damaged in the entire territory of the municipality, especially in the mentioned local communities," the president of the municipal assembly, Joca Mitic, told this portal.

He said the damage was still being assessed.

Emergency order in Bela Palanka

Also, the municipality of Bela Palanka issued an order yesterday to declare an emergency situation due to a natural disaster.

"The Municipal Headquarters for Emergency Situations issued an order that it is necessary to take all necessary measures and deploy mechanization, personnel, equipment and funds to urgently rehabilitate the consequences caused by the floods of July 2021," said the official website of the municipality.

Fire in Priboj

Due to a large scale forest fire that affected parts of the territory of the municipality of Priboj, causing danger to the population and damage to property, the president of the municipality Lazar Rvovic made a decision to deeclare an emergency situation in three local communities - Raca, Banja and Kratovo.

"An emergency situation is being declared due to a large forest fire in a part of the territory of the municipality of Priboj at the Crni Vrh location, in order to take emergency measures, use additional forces and means to eliminate the consequences caused by the natural disaster," said the municipality's website.

The consequences of the large forest fire are the large-scale damage in a part of the territory of the municipality of Priboj, as well as the danger it poses for the population and property in a part of the territory.

The fire was localized and brought under control on Sunday.
