The mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, strongly condemned the destruction of a billboard dedicated to Day of Remembrance of Romani Victims of the Holocaust, and stressed that he expected the authorities to react and find the perpetrator.

"This is not the true face of Novi Sad. This is an individual and disgraceful act and I expect that the authorities will react and find the perpetrator," Vucevic said in a statement.

He stressed that he is proud that diversity is what makes Novi Sad recognizable, and that the city government is doing everything to nurture and develop that harmonious coexistence because, as he added, multiculturalism will always be a symbol of Novi Sad.

"The city of Novi Sad nurtures a culture of remembering all the victims of sad and tragic events from the past, and we will always strive for peace, respect and tolerance," said Vucevic.
