Deputies (MPs) of the National Assembly of Serbia refused to expand the agenda of the session on Tuesday with a debate of a proposed resolution on genocide in Srebrenica, which was submitted by the Party of Democratic Action of Sandzak Deputy Enis Imamovic.

Explaining the proposal, Imamovic said that the resolution was needed after all the verdicts passed by the Hague Tribunal, and for the sake of peace and reconciliation of Bosniak and Serb peoples. The goal of the resolution is to ban any promotion of this genocide, glorification of war criminals and glorification of genocide against the Bosniak people, he explained.

Imamovic cited the latest case of a handball match played in Novi Pazar and the behavior of Red Star fans as an example of glorification of genocide and war criminals, and said that a part of the responsibility for that lies with the Assembly, which "silently supports these ideas and genocidal intentions" expressed at sporting events.

"That is the result of the approval given by the state leadership of Serbia, which often glorifies genocide, and often war criminals as well," he pointed out.

Imamovic's proposal was not accepted, and neither was the one put forward by the deputies of the Socialist Movement, which is on the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) list, to form of a commission that would investigate and determine the number of victims of the 1999 NATO aggression. The proposal of SNS Deputy Miodrag Linta to recognize as years of service the time spent in those formations by all members of the RSK Army and police has also been rejected.

There are three legislative proposals on the Assembly's agenda, concerning border crossings and border traffic with Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as draft laws on defense cooperation with Egypt, and laws on cooperation with Austria in the field of disaster protection.
