Arrest in Bosnia for murder in Niksic: Pensions money stolen, post office worker killed

A person from Bileca, BiH, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of committing robbery in Niksic, Montenegro.

Members of the Trebinje Police Department, acting on the order of the District Court in Trebinje, searched the house, auxiliary premises and vehicles used by the suspect, S.A., and on that occasion found and temporarily seized traces that could be used to shed light on the crime of robbery which occurred the same day in Niksic, the police in Trebinje announced.

The robbery took place yesterday at around nine o'clock in Niksic, when armed assailants intercepted a vehicle transporting money and wounded one guard, while other workers were sprayed with pepper spray.

The security worker, Ljubisa Mrdak, 50, later died of his wounds.

The robbers then fled in an unknown direction in an SUV with license plates from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and it is not known yet how much money they took. Montenegrin media report that it was about 400,000 euros. According to unofficial information, the money was being delivered for payment of pensions, ATV writes.

The Police Administration announced that they are intensively searching for the perpetrators of the robbery, and that a burned down vehicle was found in Grebice. The car is suspected to have been used in the commission of this criminal act.
