President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said this morning that an agreement on work permits among the countries within the Open Balkan initiative "will probably start to be applied on January 1" and that "only some technical issues remain to be completed."

Speaking from Tirana he said that this is why decisions will be made today regarding the networking of electronic and other systems, RTS reported. Asked what has been done and how much has changed since the previous Open Balkan meeting in Belgrade in November, Vucic said that "a lot has changed and all teams have been making decisions quickly and efficiently."

"Last night, we also spoke with Mr. Dimitar Kovacevski, who is to become the new Prime Minister of North Macedonia, and he is fully committed to Open Balkan, and we will continue to do that. We are doing this with a lot of faith and energy because we know that we will make things easier for our citizens," said Vucic and added that last night they talked with some Albanian businesspeople "who want to invest money in Serbia and open fish restaurants there."

He also stated that a large number of Serbian businesspeople are interested in the Albanian market and investments.

"I am proud that I can help them, and I would like everyone else to join us. It would be very important for us that this is done by Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), of course Montenegro and the Pristina part. Especially BiH, because today we will discuss how to offer discounts for citizens in the Open Balkan (area) through electronic networking," he pointed out.

"If you have a discount for people in Skopje, how is it possible that you don't for those in BiH?," Vucic wondered. When asked if Open Balkan is open for Sarajevo, Podgorica and Pristina and what the point is if there is no response from them, Vucic said that this is "their choice."
