Distressing photos of a destroyed residential building located within the grounds of the Infectious Diseases Clinic in Belgrade, which burned down in last night's fire, are arriving from the scene.

Unfortunately, the fire claimed one life. 6 more people were rescued, one of whom was unconscious, but as we have learned, is doing well.

As Tanjug has been by the Emergency Service, the fire broke out half an hour after midnight in Oslobodjenja Boulevard.

The fire was extinguished by 38 firefighters with 10 vehicles, while ladders were also used to put out the blaze.

The fire broke out in a 1,800-square-meter residential building and engulfed 160 square meters.

Two ambulance crews intervened, who found a charred body, while one woman was transported to the Military Medical Academy.

"We immediately sent two of our teams. One took care of a patient and transported her to the Military Medical Academy, the other team stayed on duty all the time during the firefighting and in the end they could only pronounce one person dead, who was unrecognizable, charred," explained Dr. Ivana Stefanovic from the Emergency Service.
