The world's best tennis player, Novak Djokovic, started his 361st week at the top of the ATP list, but this time with significantly fewer points than was the case last Monday!

Namely, he lost 2,000 points which he defended from last year's Australian Open, and he now has 8,875. On the other hand, Daniil Medvedev lost 1,200 points and is now at 8,435 and there are real chances that he will take over as the new number one in seven days.

And that will happen if the Russian triumphs at the tournament in Acapulco, regardless of what Djokovic does in Dubai. Also, there are five other scenarios based on which Novak may lose his top spot:

1. If Medvedev qualifies for the final in Acapulco, while Djokovic fails to win the title in Dubai!

2. If Medvedev qualifies for the semis Acapulco, while Djokovic does not qualify for the final in Dubai!

3. If Medvedev is in the quarterfinals in Acapulco, while Djokovic fails to reach the semis in Dubai!

4. If Medvedev loses in the 2nd round of Acapulco, while Djokovic fails to reach the semis in Dubai!

5. If Medvedev loses in the 1st round, while Djokovic does fails to qualify for the quarterfinals in Dubai!

This is Djokovic's 86 consecutive weeks on the throne since he returned there in February 2020. His longest run so far has been 122 weeks at the top, between July 2014 and November 2016.

As for the other tennis players on the ATP Top 10, Alexander Zverev remained third with 7,515 points. Stefanos Tsitispas has 6,565, Rafael Nadal is 5th with 6,515 points, followed by Matteo Berrettini (4,928), Andrei Rublev (4,590), Casper Ruud (3,975), Felix Auger-Aliassime (3,883) and Jannik Sinner (3,429).
