The Veliko Vrelo spring is the gem of Resava: From powering watermills to being a natural monument

The Veliko Vrelo spring is located on the wooded slopes of Beljanica, about 20 kilometers from Despotovac. There is also the famous waterfall Veliki Buk, both of which have been declared natural monuments in Serbia.

The water erupting from the strong karst spring used to power watermills, and today these structures are mostly turned into ethno-restaurants where tourists who come to this part of Serbia can enjoy local specialties.

The spring comes up from under the Rados Cave, another masterpiece of nature in the upper Resava, creating a "water bloodstream" that flows through Beljanica, ending in a spectacular display of natural mastery in the form of the imposing waterfall.

But, along its course, Veliko Vrelo also creates a series of small cascading waterfalls that foam over the moss-covered rocks.

The ambience is especially pleasant in spring and summer, when nature is green, and outdoor enthusiasts start exploring the undiscovered beauties of this part of the upper Resava.

Tourists who come to this area also visit the Resava Cave, which is about 11 kilometers away from the Veliko Vrelo spring, monasteries Manasija and Ravanica, the waterfall Prskalo, which, although not rich in water, never dries up, as well as the magically beautiful Krupajsko Vrelo.
