Goran Vesic, a member of the presidency of the Serbian Progressive Party and until recently the deputy mayor of Belgrade, has started a channel on the Telegram social network.

Vesic is one of the pioneers in Serbian politics when it comes to the use of social sites: although it was greeted with considerable skepticism, his TikTok account and alter ego "SicVe" has been successful, especially among younger people.

This is Vesic's new account, and on that occasion he wrote this:

"I want to inform citizens and the media that I launched my Telegram channel today, where I will be informing the public about my activities and political views.

In this way, I want to show that the Serbian Progressive Party promotes transparency, participation of citizens in conducting politics, but also innovative technologies in communication with people. Communication with citizens is the essence of every policy. This is demonstrated in the best way by President Vucic, who at every opportunity finds time to listen to citizens, to talk to people and to solve problems or to point out to other state institutions that they should be solved.

Such work by President Vucic motivates me and my colleagues to work with even more dedication on communication with citizens. As long as I am engaged in politics, I will perform this job as professionally and responsibly as possible to the benefit of Serbia and all our people.

When you have such ambition and vision, nothing is difficult.

Follow my Telegram channel."

Vesic then posted the first post, dedicated to Operation Storm anniversary:

"27 years ago, in August 1995, a group of volunteers, bakers and food companies organized distribution of humanitarian aid, food and medicine to refugees from Krajina on the bridge near Sremska Raca.

There was no reaction by then state leadership of Serbia to the misery of hundreds of thousands of people. It was as if they believed it would pass by itself.

That is why, at the suggestion and organized by my friend Zoran Djindjic, we organized humanitarian aid and welcomed our people exiled (from Croatia) during Operation Storm.

The images of frightened children and old people, driven from their centuries-old homes, will forever remain etched in my memory. They were expelled by the same Ustashas who committed the most terrible genocide against the Serb people in those same areas during the Second World War.

It is a vertical of genocide that the Croatian state leadership is now trying to hide by banning Vucic from visiting Jasenovac."
