The Head of the Delegation of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Biljana Pantic Pilja, assessed that the speech of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama at a PACE session was scandalous.

"Edi Rama showed absolute disrespect for the institution he was addressing. Instead of talking about Albania, he devoted his speech to contesting the Resolution on (KLA) organ trafficking adopted by that same institution by a large majority," Pantic Pilja told Tanjug.

She added that what the Albanian prime minister had said caused consternation among those present.

"His address caused great indignation in the plenary hall and is equal to no scandal that has happened in the history of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The Serbian delegation assessed this speech as scandalous, because the Serbs were not removing their own organs and it is disgraceful that they are trying to change irrefutable facts and evidence in this way," Pantic Pilja stressed.

In his speech at the session, Rama requested the revision of Resolution 1782 from 2011, which was adopted based on a report by Council of Europe (CoE) rapporteur Dick Marty.

Rama also strongly criticized the proceedings against former KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army") leader Hashim Thaci before the Specialist Chambers in The Hague.

Among other things, Rama compared the situation in Ukraine with Kosovo and Metohija, saying that "there is no parallel between Crimea and Kosovo, but between Kosovo and Ukraine," and asked the participants "to call Kosovo by its proper name, 'Republic of Kosovo', and not Kosovo."

He also said that Albania without reservation supports the request of so-called of Kosovo to join the Council of Europe and reiterated that Serbia should recognize the self-proclaimed Kosovo (the country's southern province.)
