Golubac - a place where the most beautiful pages of Serbia's history and geography come together

Numerous hiking trails along the Danube River and the cliffs, through the villages, observation decks and the Brnjicka River Canyon are just some of the natural gems of Golubac that are of interest to visitors, just like the Golubac Fortress, the National Park Djerdap (Iron Gates), and the Tumane Monastery

The municipality of Glubac lies on the right bank of the Danube, at the place where this river is the widest in Serbia and where the Pannonian Plain meets the Carpathian Mountains.

Although tourism-wise it is best known for the Djerdap National Park, in recent years more and more people flock to this part of eastern Serbia to visit the Serbian Orthodox monastery of Tumane, and the hermitage of Saint Zosim.

The shrine, which according to popular recounts is the endowment of the hero of the medieval Battle of Kosovo Milos Obilic, has become in Serbia what the Ostrog monastery in Montenegro is to the faithful - a place where people of different religions come to pray.

With the reconstruction of the Golubac Fortress, Golubac, in the Branicevo District, has become a must-see spot on the tourist map of lovers of medieval fortifications.

Despite the fact that it has rich cultural and historical sites on offer, the municipality of Golubac is particularly attractive to those who are eager to spend a weekend in nature.

Numerous hiking trails along the river, the cliffs and through picturesque villages, observation decks offering a wonderful view of the blue Danube, which here looks like the sea, as well as the magically beautiful canyon of the Brnjicka River with two waterfalls are just some of the natural gems of Golubac that are definitely worth a visit.
