Nis Mayor Dragana Sotirovski spoke with Eldin Dobradzic, Nebojsa Djokovic and Slavko Vukcevic, members of the Board of Directors of the Airports of Montenegro (Aerodromi Crne Gore) company, and Mihajlo Zdravkovic, the director of Airports of Serbia (Aerodromi Srbije), about strengthening regional cooperation, exchange of experiences, increasing the number of passengers and routes.

The city of Nis is at a crossroads, which is especially evident today through the Open Balkan initiative. It is an opportunity to cooperate more closely, to connect economically, to have joint projects in the field of transport and traffic. The Nis airport is being developed thanks to the support of the state.

"We will also get an extension of the runway, expansion of the terminal building, which means the possibility for new routes, an increase in the number of flights on existing routes, new airlines and certainly greater passenger capacity. We also have a vision for future routes that will connect the city, we are working on an urban mobility project," the mayor said during the meeting.

Eldin Dobradzic, President of the Board of Directors of Airports of Montenegro, pointed out that there is excellent cooperation with Airports of Serbia, and that Konstantin Veliki (Constantine the Great) airport in Nis is particularly important, the development of which is significant for the entire region, because it is better equipped than the airport in Tivat, Montenegro.

"We hope that the increase in the number of passengers will be beneficial for us as well and that passengers will use Nis to transfer to the airport in Montenegro," said Dobradzic.

"We are exchanging experiences about equipment and services, we are discussing the renewal of the seasonal line with a possible increase in the number of seasonal flights on the Nis-Tivat route, since flight occupancy is around 90 percent, as well as the possibilities for the Nis-Podgorica route," said Mihajlo Zdravkovic, director of Airports of Serbia.
