A very warm air mass is coming to us from the north of Africa these days, and sand from the Sahara will arrive with it tomorrow.

Spring weather continues. Maximum temperatures are ten degrees higher than average. More clouds are expected today and Friday, but it will still remain very warm for this time of year. The maximum temperature will range from 13 to 19 degrees, in Belgrade up to 17.

A strong south-easterly wind will also begin to blow, which will be strong in the afternoon and evening in the Kosava area, and occasionally with storm strength in the south of Banat. On Friday, the wind in most areas will turn to the southwest, and it will be stronger only in Backa and in the mountains.

Otherwise, a strong cyclone will be present over central Europe in the coming days, and a high air pressure field will be present to the south of our area. At the same time, a cyclone is expected over the western Mediterranean, i.e. a low air pressure field.

Such a synoptic situation will cause strong south-westerly currents to prevail over the western Mediterranean, and it will create the conditions for large amounts of sand particles from the Sahara to reach from the north of Africa to Spain and Portugal and to the west of the Mediterranean.

These particles of sand will then be transported via the western high current through the Alps to central Europe, but also to our area, so the sand from the Sahara will not reach us directly, but via western and central Europe.

As Friday in Serbia is expected to be partly cloudy, in some places with light rain or showers with thunder, the rain will contain particles of desert sand. More precipitation is expected to be mainly in the northeast of Serbia.

A similar situation regarding the sand is expected during the weekend. However, in the northern, central and western regions of Serbia, the penetration of a very pronounced cold front is expected, so in these regions of Serbia, the wind will turn to the north-west, temporarily gusty and very strong, and the coming of very cold air mass over the Pannonian plain is also expected.

A strong northerly flow will clear the atmosphere of sand over these parts of Serbia, while the southern and eastern part of Serbia will continue to be in the front and warm sector of the cyclone, with a strong southwesterly flow and the presence of a very warm air mass, but also with the presence of sand, so dirty rain will continue to fall in those areas.

The aforementioned cooling will bring a drastic drop in temperature to the northern and western regions of Serbia and the transition of rain to wet snow, with the temperature dropping to zero degrees, while in the south and southeast it will be very warm, with showers with thunder and temperatures up to 20 degrees.

On Monday, the cooling will reach the rest of Serbia and completely clear the atmosphere of sand over our area.

Therefore, if you have decided to wash your vehicles in the next few days, it would be best if you do postpone that until next week, because by the end of this week we are expecting precipitation with sand particles from the Sahara, that is, a phenomenon known as "dirty" precipitation.

Sand from the Sahara is a natural phenomenon and occurs in the current synoptic situation. Strong winds lift sand particles high into the atmosphere. These particles cross the Mediterranean Sea, and the air becomes moist and rich in precipitation, so that then in parts of Europe or our area, rain or snow with sand occurs, which is most visible on vehicles in the form of red or yellow snow and cloudy atmosphere.
