Drunk driver B.M. (40), who mowed down a girl and left her lying motionless on a pedestrian crossing in Glavna Street in Zemun - and instead of paying attention to this victim proceeded to argue with people who came to help - has been sentenced to one year under house arrest, and will not have to wear an ankle monitor.

(The caption to this tweet reads, "Zemun. The situation after the character hit a girl at a pedestrian (crossing). According to an IG post, she was left lying on the ground and this one didn't even look at her.

Wilderness.")

He is suspected of committing the criminal offense of serious crime against public traffic safety, and the criminal offense of violent behavior. The suspect was driving the car in a state of severe intoxication, with 1.76 permilles of blood alcohol content, thus endangering public traffic and people's lives.

B.M. hit the victim with the vehicle, throwing her onto the hood. She was crossing the road at a marked pedestrian crossing when the accident happened and sustained serious injuries.

On the same occasion, the drunk driver caused a disturbance because after the traffic accident, he approached the citizens who happened to be at the scene addressing them using inappropriate language.

After hearing the suspect, the prosecutor's office entered into a plea deal with him, where he admitted to the criminal acts, and the court's verdict first determined a prison sentence of six months for each of the criminal offenses.

Then, the court imposed a single sentence of one year under house arrest, without the application of electronic surveillance, along with a cumulative security measure banning him from driving a motor vehicle for a period of one year.
