Works on improving traffic access at the border crossing Presevo-Tabanovce, which involve the expansion of access roads from the Serbian and North Macedonia sides, will be finished before the beginning of the summer. This partial reconstruction of the crossing will result in a certain acceleration of the flow of cars and a reduction in the number of people delayed at this border crossing.

The works are carried out as part of the Open Balkan Initiative, launched by the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic. The reconstruction of the crossing is one of the results of the Memorandum signed between the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which contains measures to accelerate the movement of vehicles, people and goods across the state border.

The works that start today on the Macedonian side, will begin next week in Serbia, and are expected to be completed in the first half of next month, before the start of the tourist season, and that, in addition to a certain reduction in congestion at the borders, will also facilitate trade between the two countries.

Namely, it is expected that in the coming period measures will start to be implemented to recognize certificates for weighing cargo vehicles between the customs administrations of the two countries, which will shorten the time taken up by customs formalities.

These measures will contribute to an accelerated flow at the border crossing Presevo-Tabanovce and to the reduction of costs for travelers and business entities, which will have a positive effect on international trade in the entire region.

All these are just a few examples of the ways in which the flow of people, goods and services is accelerated within the framework of the Open Balkan Initiative, saving time to both citizens and the economy.
