Milica Vlaskovic, the mother of Kosovo Serb Nemanja Vlaskovic who has been arrested, addressed the citizens gathered in Leposavic in front of the municipal building, to say that her son is innocent.

With tears in her eyes and a trembling voice, Vlaskovic said that her son, Nemanja, simply attended a democratic protest, adding that every lie and accusation against him is too heavy to bear.

"My people, it is very hard for me, too hard, the sadness and pain, fear, dark thoughts. Today I stand here, I don't know how I manage, but I stand for Nemanja, for all the children, God give me strength. I stand in front of all the mothers who empathize with my sadness, pain, who share my fate. You know, God knows, but they also know, my son only, as an honorable son of his people, expressed his peaceful and dignified protest and disagreement against the force imposed on us. Every accusation and lie pronounced against my child is heavy, too heavy," Vlaskovic told Kosovo Online.

Vlaskovic added that her son is not guilty of the charges against him.

"I plead with you God, he is innocent and I trust in you as a mother. They (Pristina) can point the finger at any of us (Serbs). He expressed a peaceful protest, which every person in the world has the right to, but unfortunately they can take aim at us here, arrest us. My child is not guilty, my son is innocent, children are innocent, I am afraid that this is not the end of it," said Vlaskovic.

She asked, "why they taking our people away and when will all this stop."

"My son keeps me standing here, so that I don't fall, if I fall, he will also fall without being guilty of anything," said Vlaskovic.

Nemanja Vlaskovic, who was arrested by members of the Kosovo police for an alleged attack on journalists, has been detained for 30 days by the Basic Court in northern Kosovska Mitrovica.
