Aleksandar Dimitrov, the owner of the portal "Glas Press" from Bosilegrad, was held for five hours on Wednesday afternoon at the Ribarce border crossing on the Serbian-Bulgarian border, the Cultural Information Center (KIC) from Bosilegrad announced. Dimitrov confirmed this in a statement to the Bulgarian media, reports bujanovacke.co.rs.

"Around 4:00 pm, Dimitrov was not allowed to enter Serbia from Bulgaria, because customs officials found three copies of the book 'An elegy on Krajiste - the fate of Bulgarians in the western provinces' in his possession, written by Edvin Sugarov, the former consul of Bulgaria in Nis (Serbia)," KIC president Ivan Nikolov said.

Today, Sugarov works as a professor at the University of Sofia.

It is interesting that the customs officers, as soon as Dimitrov appeared at the border, allowed him to enter Serbia, but without the three copies of the mentioned book, which he energetically refused, KIC says.

As Dimitrov told some media in Serbia around 8:00 pm, the customs officials did not accept to allow him to enter Serbia while the Customs would issue him a certificate saying that his three books were confiscated.

"After five hours of negotiations and checks, he was allowed to enter Serbia around 9 pm, with a signed statement that he would return the books to the Customs after 72 hours," Ivan Nikolov said.
