"The public procurement procedure for the selection of the most favorable bidder who will perform air transportation on a total of 10 routes in the public interest from the airports Konstantin Veliki (Constantine the Great) in Nis and Morava in Kraljevo over the next four years has been completed, and the selected bidder is Air Serbia," Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic has said.

He said that a framework agreement will be concluded with Air Serbia for a period of four years, within which individual contracts will be signed and added that, in accordance with the contract, the air carrier is under obligation to start flights from January 1 next year.

"With the signing the framework agreement and contract, citizens will be able to buy tickets for planned trips in a timely manner," Vesic pointed out and further stated that this is in order to maintain the continuity of traffic connectivity, which is "of great importance for economic and social development of southern, eastern Serbia, Sumadija and western Serbia."

The subject of public procurement are the routes that were previously declared to be in the public interest, he added.

"Unlike in previous years, when contracts were concluded for a period of two years, framework agreements will now be signed for a period of four years."

Vesic also stated that lines are planned from Morava in Kraljevo to Istanbul, Thessaloniki and Tivat, and from Konstantin Veliki in Nis to Frankfurt, Ljubljana, Cologne, Istanbul, Belgrade, Athens and Tivat.

He added that in the coming period, the issue of introducing commercial lines from the airports in Nis and Kraljevo will be considered, with the aim of better connecting citizens and for the sake of economic development of the region, and added that the value of the framework agreements spanning four years will amount to four billion dinars, that is, one billion per year.
