President Aleksandar Vucic said today after a meeting with computer engineer and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak that they discussed how to further improve education in Serbia. He stated that at his suggestion, the Government of Serbia will grant Serbian passports to Wozniak and his wife. That's how the famous co-founder of Apple will become - a Serbian!

"They will become citizens of Serbia today or tomorrow, and that is the greatest possible honor for us," Vucic told reporters at the Serbian Presidency after his conversation with Wozniak.

Vucic pointed out that he will be the proud president who will hand Serbian passports to the spouses.

"And now we can brag that a computer genius is a Serbian, who will live most of his life in America, but will often come to his Serbia, too. We are also proud of that and very happy about it. I congratulate them and many, many thanks," said Vucic.

The president also said that he had to disappoint those who were looking for other reasons for Wozniak's arrival in Serbia.

"They thought that the man came here because of money," Vucic noted, adding that he in fact came without receiving any money and even paid for his plane ticket himself.

"He has so much money, but he invests that money, as I said, he is a great philanthropist and invests that money in charitable causes," said Vucic. He added that Janko Tipsarevic did a lot for Serbia by asking Steve Wozniak to come to our country.

Wozniak was involved in numerous philanthropic activities and training of children, especially between the ages of 11 and 13, added Vucic. He said that Wozniak is in Serbia together with his wife.

"We initiated a lot of things that we could do in Serbia during the coming period and make the country much more attractive to the young generation, to those who could find the best possible universities in our country, the best possible schools, because of which they often go abroad. This would completely reduce the departure of people from this country, and attract a huge number of people from the entire region and not only from the region but also from farther away, because we think that Serbia is very attractive to people according to some other criteria," said Vucic.

He said that the conversation with Wozniak about higher but also about secondary education, and how to change the mindset of everyone to realize that education is the most important link, was of key importance for us.

"Of course, through improving the financial position of education workers, but also through their even more significant and greater engagement and hard work, we can achieve much better results," said Vucic.
