Rocks fall and damage car on Nova Varos-Prijepolje road: Great danger from more landslides

A traffic incident happened on the Nova Varos-Prijepolje road when a large amount of rocks fell on the road and damaged a car that was driving past.

"The incident happened not far from Bistrica on the road from Nova Varos to Prijepolje near the tunnel, when rocks, due to a landslide, fell on the road and damaged a passing car. Fortunately, the driver was not injured, but the vehicle sustained significant damage. This incident is a reminder of the dangers of landslides along roads, especially in areas where rocks are present," one of the eyewitnesses told RINA.

Heavy rain that fell on Sunday in the area of Nova Varos and Prijepolje triggered numerous landslides along the roads in this area.

"The section from Kokini Brod to Gostun and the border crossing with Montenegro is particularly critical. There was also a smaller landslide on the road from Bistrica to Priboj," said the drivers who were at the scene.

Teams were immediately sent there and removed a large amount of rocks, while drivers are urged to be careful in canyon areas.
