Rajko's Cave, near Majdanpek, is one of the most important tourist spots in the area of the municipality. Since the beginning of this year's season, more than 4,000 tourists visited the cave, most of them students on field trips.

But there are also also organized groups and individual tourists, considering that this speleological pearl, which is said to be among the most beautiful in Serbia, has become a destination not to be missed on the tourist map of the Municipality of Majdanpek and eastern Serbia, reports RTV Bor.

"Because of the abundance of 'cave decorations' and a landscaped hiking trail almost two kilometers long, on two levels, Rajko's Cave truly deserves the moniker of being one of the most beautiful in Serbia. Thanks to the natural beauty and investments in building hiking trails, installing lighting, etc., this cave is getting more and more visits and we hope that this trend will continue in the coming years," said Svetlana Lazarevska, Acting Director of the Majdanpek Tourism Organization.

This year marks the 130th anniversary of the discovery and initial exploration of Rajko's Cave, for which famed Serbian scientist Jovan Cvijic takes most credit - while next year will mark half a century since the official opening of the cave to visitors.
