The constitutive session of the assembly of the provisional Pristina institutions was suspended today for the 31st time, as the Self-Determination proposal to elect the Assembly's president in a secret vote was once again not accepted.

The chairman of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari, scheduled the resumption of the session for June 15.

Out of the 80 deputies present in the hall, 47 voted in favor, the Pristina press is reporting.

The Self-Determination candidate for Assembly president is Albulena Haxhiu, who needs 61 votes to be elected.

Since she failed to get the required number of votes, Dehari proceeded, for the 23rd time, with the agenda he set himself, to form a committee that would oversee the secret ballot.

As was the case in all previous attempts, opposition deputies once again chose not to propose members for this commission from their ranks, nor did they participate in the vote on the committee, which resulted in a lack of quorum.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and Nisma are against the candidacy of Haxhiu, as well as against the secret ballot demanded by Self-Determination, Guxo, and Alternativa.

The constitutive session began on April 15, and based on the results of the elections held on February 9, no party has enough seats to independently form a government.

Self-Determination has 48 deputies, the Democratic Party of Kosovo 24, the Democratic League of Kosovo 20, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Nisma initiative eight each, the Serb List nine, the Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival one, while the remaining 10 seats belong to representatives of other non-majority communities.
