Sack with severed leg pulled out of Kolubara River near Lazarevac, police looking for rest of the body

A body part of a man was pulled out of the Kolubara River last night in a sack, in Veliki Crljeni near Lazarevac, Telegraf.rs has learned.

According to unofficial information, his disappearance had been reported to the police.

The man reportedly lived in the vicinity of Lazarevac and was involved in usury.

By order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office (VTJ) in Belgrade, an autopsy will be performed.

Until then, no one can say with certainty whether this is a case of murder or whether the body is of the person whose disappearance had been reported.

A young man who was driving by on a motorcycle noticed the sack and immediately informed the police.

Telegraf.rs has learned that members of the 8th and 3rd departments of the Criminal Investigations Police (UKP), as well as a VTJ prosecutor, are conducting the investigation at the scene.

Similar cases

A girl's body was found on March 22 this year, hooked to a raft on the left bank of the Sava River in New Belgrade.

The body was identified as that of a victim of aggravated murder committed on January 15, 2025.

Interpol Belgrade informed the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Croatia about the discovery of an unknown child's body in March 2025.

Through international police cooperation, DNA analysis determined that girl had been murdered in Zagreb, Croatia, near the Jankomir Bridge.

The search for the missing girl lasted for days, and the mother (who became a suspect in the case) at the time claimed that the child had disappeared in the Sava in Zagreb.

Kostolac case

In March 2022, body parts of a male person, i.e. both legs, were pulled from the Danube near Kostolac, eastern Serbia. The body parts are still being preserved because the identification has not been successful thus far.

A man fishing on the right bank of the Danube at Pepeliste, near Kostolac, noticed the legs floating on the river and informed the police.

The investigation has been active ever since, but the body is yet to be identified. The circumstances of the man's death are also still unknown.
