Prime Minister Djuro Macut last night strongly condemned an attack on the family home of the former mayor of Novi Sad and former prime minister, currently leader of the SNS and advisor to the president Milos Vucevic.

"Attacks of this type - whether they are aimed at individuals, their property or families - are unacceptable in a democratic society and represent a red line that must not be crossed," the Serbian Government quoted Macut as saying in a statement.

He pointed out that no one has the right to threaten another's safety, especially the safety of family and children.

"I call on everyone to refrain from causing tensions that cannot result in any good," said the prime minister of Serbia.

He added that political, ideological or any other differences must be resolved exclusively within institutions and the framework of the law, and not on the street or through acts of violence.

"The Government of Serbia, in cooperation with the competent authorities, will take all measures to bring the perpetrators to justice and to provide full personal and property safety to all citizens, regardless of their political affiliation," stated the prime minister.

"Violence is not the way. Dialogue, respect and the law - these are the foundations of the society we are building," Macut concluded.
