Immediately upon learning that a severe drought on the Suva Mountain (Suva Planina) endangered animals, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia Dragan Glamocic ordered an urgent intervention to deliver water to the area.

As quickly as they could, the Ministry, in cooperation with the regional agricultural advisory and expert services (PSSS), provided water tanks and shipped them to the field, in order to help livestock farmers who found themselves in serious difficulty due to the drought.

"Over the next 15 days, we will be delivering four tanks of water every day in order to ensure sufficient quantities for livestock. We are working in coordination with the Ministry, local self-governments and farmers in the area," said PSSS Nis Director Srecko Vukasinovic.

Thanks to the quick reaction of the Ministry and the involvement of professional services, the problem is now being properly addressed.

Minister Glamocic repeatedly emphasized that the state must be the first to stand with farmsteads.

"The minister is in the field every day, with the farmers. This is a policy that we will continue to implement, to provide help when it is most needed and to make the results of our support visible and tangible," the Ministry announced.
