Petkovic reacts after police open fire on Serb youth near Leposavic in Kosovo and Metohija

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic has accused the prime minister of the provisional institutions in Pristina, Albin Kurti, of planning a new wave of violence in the north of Kosovo and Metohija with the aim of expelling the Serb people and occupying the north of the province.
Petkovic reacted to the incident near Leposavic, when the so-called Kosovo police fired from automatic weapons during the identification of a group of young Serb men.
The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said that Kurti's latest statements and the actions of the police are a clear signal that Pristina is preparing for an escalation of tensions, ignoring all calls from the international community to calm the situation.
"Kurti has been orchestrating a campaign of intimidation, arrests and provocations for days with the clear intention of carrying out violent actions against Serbs in the north. All this is done in order to make the negotiations and agreements that have been reached completely meaningless," said Petkovic.
The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija added that Belgrade is regularly informing international representatives about these developments and that he expects immediate reaction in order to prevent further deterioration of the security situation.
"The Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija cannot and will not be left at the mercy of Kurti's regime," concluded Petkovic.
