Serbian diplomat: I am convinced Trump and Putin will also discuss new international order

Former diplomat Branko Brankovic has commented on the meeting between the presidents of Russia and the US, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, by saying that many topics have been agreed in advance, mostly regarding Ukraine, but that he is also convinced that the creation of a new international order would be discussed.

Brankovic told Tanjug that, in addition to the issue of Ukraine, a lot has already been agreed regarding the Middle East.

"I am convinced that there will be something on the agenda that is in a way the core of what is happening in the world now, which is an open discussion related to the creation of a new international order that BRICS has already advocated for and Putin said that BRICS is working on a new international order based on international law, which means, the principles of the Charter of the United Nations," Brankovic said.

He assessed that the process of creating a new international order between great powers will not only relate to the ties between Russia and the US, but but also the US and BRICS as a whole.

According to him, when it comes to Ukraine, that matter has been closed, and that's because of two things.

"Number one, Ukraine cannot join NATO. Number two, Russia will keep what it has won. Therefore, these are the basic elements of what the Russians had asked for. So, I would not even be surprised if that meeting lasts two days," he added.

When asked if it is possible to negotiate a ceasefire or peace in Ukraine, without Ukraine's participation, Brankovic said that anything is possible, including that.

"I don't expect President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to be there at all, because they don't need him. They already reached agreements beforehand regarding what, how, and in what way should be done," the former diplomat said.
