Radovan Viskovic, the prime minister of the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina) has resigned.

Viskovic announced the decision on Monday during a press conference.

"I'm staying in the team, I'm here, I'll do some other job. Everything I've been doing thus far, I'll be doing from some other position," Radovan Viskovic said.

He added that he resigned in agreement with Milorad Dodik.

"In agreement with the president of the Republic, the leader of the NSRS and of course the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, we decided to form a new government," Viskovic said.

Viskovic added that he wishes the new government success.

"That's what normal people want, I'm not selfish, I'm not here to make pleas," Viskovic pointed out.

He said that the RS is a desirable place to live in and that he is proud of everything that has been done so far.

"I wish success to everyone who will in the coming period hold the position I did. I will continue to be here, in places of responsibility. I will stay here as long as I am alive and until we achieve our ultimate goal. I am proud of the RS, its citizens and leadership. The kind of predictions that were there about us - that we would fail - yet we are getting stronger and more stable. I leave a stable RS to my successor, and I wish success to the new government," Viskovic said.

Viskovic, who served as RS prime minister since 2018, said that during that time his government achieved impressive results in terms of all economic indicators.

"We managed to get through the Covid pandemic, perhaps the most painlessly in this region, as well as to overcome economic crises," said Viskovic, stressing that the government increased salaries and other benefits during that period.

"Salaries, pensions, the employment rate all grew. Exports and imports went up. In the first seven months of this year, exports grew significantly more than imports," Viskovic said.

"We are getting stronger and more stable. I leave the RS to my successor economically and financially stable. I wish the new government success. I will be overjoyed if the new government surpasses the results of the one I led," Viskovic concluded.
