Petkovic: Kurti's move against Serb List is also attack on all Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija

The Central Election Commission in Pristina has decided not to certify the Serb List for local elections in Kosovo and Metohija, that are to be held on October 12.
The director of the office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, immediately reacted to this news.
"Acting on a direct order from Kurti, the commission tonight rejected the participation of the Serb List in local elections. The same attempt to shut down Serb List, as in December last year. Kurti's attack on the Serb List is also an attack on all Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija! That's why there is no dilemma for who the Serbs are voting! It's far from over, the Serb List will fight and win!," Petkovic posted on social networks last night.
Earlier in the day the Serb List announced that, although all legal requirements had been met, the Central Election Commission did not certify its candidates for mayors and councilors, who should run in the local elections in Kosovo and Metohija, which the party said represents another example of political discrimination.
The statement added that this decision was made despite the fact that the competent Certification Office confirmed that all Serb List candidates fully meet the legal criteria.
"We believe that this is another example of political discrimination and engineering by which Albin Kurti is trying to prevent the participation of the Serb List, while at the same time favoring quasi-Serb parties close to him," the statement said.
It added that this behavior represents a heavy blow to the rule of law and proof that the international community, even after more than two decades, has failed to establish a just and democratic system, while its urging of Kurti to respect the law and the rights of the Serb people are absolutely not taken seriously, which the Serb List believes, should be a reason for their serious reaction.
"Aware that he and his henchmen from the Serb ranks do not have the support of the Serb people, Kurti openly violates his own laws and rules in order to weaken the Serb List, that is, to break up the unity of the Serb people, thanks to which the Serbs represent a political factor in these areas," said the Serb List.
The Serb List remains consistent with the interests of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija and will continue to fight for their rights and survival, despite any pressure and injustice.
"This decision by Kurti will be an incentive for us to fight even harder and more decisively for the right of the Serbs to elect their own councilors and mayors, rather than those pushed on them by Kurti," the party concluded.
