15-year-old from Aleksinac dies in waterfall on Stara Mountain: Parents saw everything

A 15-year-old boy from Aleksinac died yesterday after slipping and falling from the Tupavica waterfall on Stara Mountain (Stara Planina)!

He allegedly slipped when he tried to step on a rock that was covered in algae!

His parents pulled him out of the water, but he had died instantly.

An ambulance crew pronounced him dead.

The news about the terrible tragedy was also reported by Pirot TV, which stated that the emergency team, upon arriving at the scene, was only able to ascertain the boy's death.

According to the information obtained by the outlet, published on their Facebook page, the tragedy occurred yesterday shortly before 3 pm.

"A child who, accompanied by his parents, was at the Tupavica waterfall on Stara Mountain, had climbed to the top of the waterfall, slipped and fell. The Pirot Emergency Medical Service confirmed to us that when the team of doctors arrived, they could only declare death," said Pirot TV's Facebook post.

Locals in the village of Dojkinci said that the child was between f 12 and 15, and came from Aleksinac.

"Locals say that this happened after the child tried to step on one of the stones which is coated with very slippery and muddy algae. According to the residents of Dojkinci, members of the Pirot police and the Emergency Medical Service team also came to the scene," reported Pirot TV.

The Tupavica waterfall, where the tragedy happened, is one of the most beautiful and most visited waterfalls on Stara Mountain. It is located only 50 meters from the road, making it very easily accessible, which is why it is visited by a large number of tourists and nature lovers.
