First photos from Zemun: Bus swerves to avoid jaywalking woman, kills child on sidewalk; 10 more injured

A 15 year-old girl died today in a serious accident in Zemun, a Belgrade municipality.
There were many police officers and citizens at the scene today, the latter seen crying, reacting to the tragedy.
According to eyewitnesses, the girl was killed when the driver of a bus on Line 18 tried to avoid hitting a woman who was running across the street, and instead ended up on the sidewalk, where the victim happened to be at that moment.
"It was horrendous. The girl went under the bus. Firefighters pulled her out dead. There was no way to save her. The bus ended up hitting a wall. The poor child," an eyewitness told Telegraf.rs.
A large number of police, ambulance crews and firefighters are at the scene of the horrific accident.
We have learned that ten more people were injured, including a 9-month pregnant woman.
Almost at the same time, a pile-up involving three cars took place. It is not yet clear whether those injured were in the bus or in the cars, but the scenes are dramatic, and the vehicles are almost completely crumpled from the force of the impact.
According to our reporter, everyone who found themselves there was in tears. The police were trying to prevent the witnesses from making any statements or leaving the scene.
The bus driver was not under the influence of alcohol.
The prosecutor has arrived to participate in the investigation.
