Telegraf finds out why bison Tajfun escaped from Fruska Gora National Park

The runaway male bison who went missing from the Fruska Gora National Park was taken back "home" in the morning.

It was worrisome that such a large and strong animal had for days wandered around a part of the Backa region known for its exceptional popularity among tourists.

However, the drama ended and Tajfun ("Typhoon"), after a very intensive search by the competent services, was located and brought back to his fenced habitat.

The National Park told our portal that the 4-year-old spent five days outside the fenced area, and when we asked how he escaped, this was the answer:

"It happened because the fence was damaged by a strong wind, and then he managed to knock it down."

By the way, this is not the first time that this "gentleman with a mind of his own" had gone for a "walk".

"Yes, it happened once before after a big storm, when the fence got very damaged," said representatives of the Fruska Gora National Park.

According to them, nothing was suggesting that something like this could happen now.

"There were no particular changes in Tajfun's behavior. As a strong and young male bison, he is naturally curious and energetic," our interlocutors explained.

They also said that when an animal like Tajfun runs away, it is a combination of natural instincts and external circumstances.

"When it comes to young males during this time of the year, instincts can encourage movement, and when there is damage to the fence after bad weather, they are able to wander away," the National Park said.

Considering there have been comments on social media these last days about alleged sightings of the bison, our interlocutors said that this is not always reliable and that official information regarding the status of the animal was published exclusively through the National Park's accounts.

"Our gamekeepers knew where he was at all times and monitored him constantly," we have been told.

Finally, the first-hand advice for those who actually might come across an animal like Tajfun is that such a strong and wild creature should not be approached under any circumstances.
