Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic arrived in New York last night, starting his visit to the United States, where he will participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and have bilateral meetings with numerous world leaders and representatives of the international community.

Vucic will today meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as announced by the US State Department.

On the eve of his trip to New York, Vucic said that Rubio had requested a meeting with him, and that he believed it was possible to resolve the issue of US tariffs.

The president also announced that he will request a meeting with Scott Bessent, the US secretary of the treasury, regarding US sanctions against NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia).

Vucic stated that he will, among others, talk with President of the European Council Antonio Costa, but also with 22 other presidents and prime ministers.

He added that some African leaders will be among them, and that good news can be expected soon regarding the withdrawals of recognition of so-called Kosovo's independence proclamation.

He stated that the talks in New York are very important and that he expects a lot from them.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will also attend a reception organized by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres before the start of the General Assembly, held traditionally in honor of heads of delegations.

Vucic will address the Assembly on Wednesday, September 24.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric is a member of the Serbian delegation in New York City this week, and is holding a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings with foreign ministers and officials from UN member states.
