Srbijagas General Director Dusan Bajatovic has said that he expects another postponement of US sanctions against NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia).

He stressed that today's conversation between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is very important because sanctions against NIS are political.

Bajatovic said that he expects that the president of Serbia, apart from Rubio, will also discuss NIS with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

"That bilateral part is very important because these are political sanctions. And the Russians have taken some measures that I don't think are enough, in terms of changing the management structure of NIS. What worries me more is the entry into force of European (EU) sanctions, because I'm not sure that Janaf (pipeline) will be in a position to join in transporting oil that we buy from third countries," Bajatovic told RTS.

He stated that he expects the postponement of US sanctions against NIS to be extended for another month, and that after that, the global geopolitical situation should be assessed.

"We will get another month, I hope that Vucic will manage to do a lot in his conversation with the US treasury secretary, but these sanctions are political," reiterated Bajatovic.

The US State Department announced earlier that Marco Rubio would meet with Aleksandar Vucic in New York City today.

On the eve of his trip to New York, Vucic said that Rubio had requested a meeting with him, and that he believed it was possible to resolve the issue of US tariffs.

The president also announced that he will request a meeting with Scott Bessent, regarding US sanctions against NIS.
