Vucic: Important and meaningful conversation with Rubio, focusing on economy and trade

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that he had an important and meaningful conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio about strengthening the political dialogue between Serbia and the US, improving economic cooperation and the common security challenges.

"The focus of the conversation was on economy and trade, especially when it comes to solving the issue of US tariffs. We also considered the possibility of new investments, cooperation in the field of energy and new technologies, as well as the perspectives provided by the mechanism of our strategic dialogue," Vucic posted on Instagram.

He added that during the meeting he stressed that Serbia is committed to preserving peace and stability, as a prerequisite for any further progress and a better life for all citizens, while expressing his gratitude for the role of the US in protecting the security of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as for its contribution to the dialogue process between Belgrade and Pristina.

Vucic said that Serbia at the same time appreciates the support from the US on its way to full EU membership, which, he emphasized, "represents one of the strategic goals of our country."

"An open and honest dialogue, based on mutual trust and respect, is the best way to strengthen the partnership between Serbia and the US. I am convinced that our relations will gain even stronger momentum in the future, to our mutual benefit and in the interest of peace, stability and prosperity," Vucic stated.

Vucic and Rubio met on Tuesday local time on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
