Vucic: I officially invited Trump to visit Serbia

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic spoke to Serbian media after addressing the UN General Assembly in New York.

"We have extremely important meetings. We will talk with our American partners and manage to find a solution for the tariffs, a one-on-one meeting with Antonio Costa. Tomorrow we all have dozens of meetings. We will manage to do it all," the president said of himself and the Serbian delegation.

"I invited President Trump officially to visit Serbia," said Vucic, referring to the details of his conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"If by chance we get a postponement of the (US) sanctions against NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia), I don't believe it, but if we get it, for another month, possibly two, it will be because of this conversation. It's important that we had a good, honest conversation with Secretary Rubio. Tomorrow (Thursday) also with Kaja Kallas, we are here to talk and see what we can do for our country."

"It will not be at all easy for us, we will be under pressure from different sides, everyone wants to see where their trenches are dug, but we will not go into the trenches. It's time for us to protect our people, to protect our children, I see that they are digging deeper and deeper trenches".

"The case of Charlie Kirk resonated so much that today 12, 13 speakers (at UN General Assembly) addressed it. It shook the world so much, that someone was killed because of their political stance. There is less and less decency. Today you have madmen who rejoice at someone's death, and the death of a young, innocent man. We are all in a difficult situation, we still have to work hard, to fight and to push the country forward. Serbia escaped disaster and it's slowly but surely moving forward," he said.

"I want people in Serbia to know that we fought and that we did our best," said Vucic.
