Serbian police arrest suspected organizers of secret combat training of foreigners from Moldova and Romania

Members of the Serbian police - from the Criminal Investigations Administration (UKP) Anti-Terrorism Service, in cooperation with the Security Information Agency (BIA) and the prosecutor's offices - arrested two people suspected of committing the criminal offense of organizing training for participation in war or armed conflict in a foreign country.

L.P. (37) and S.S. (47) are the arrested suspects, and they are believed to have organized combat-tactical training for citizens of Moldova and Romania with the goal of training them to provide more effective physical resistance to Moldovan police in the event of riots during election day in that country, scheduled for September 28.

L.P. is suspected of organizing and financing the training that was conducted in a hospitality establishment near Loznica, while S.S. is accused of helping.

The training is suspected to have been conducted between July 16 and September 12 for between 150 and 170 citizens of Moldova and Romania.

During the search of the L.P.'s apartment, the police confiscated laptops, mobile phones, as well as a device for detecting and monitoring radio-frequency signals, while a pistol was taken from S.S., which is why he is also charged with the criminal offense of illegal production, possession, carrying and trafficking of weapons and explosive substances.

After launching an investigation into this case, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia will request information and evidence from the Republic of Moldova through international legal assistance in order to continue the proceedings.

The suspects have been detained for up to 48 hours, after which they will be brought to the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Sabac, along with a criminal complaint.
