Woman gives birth at entrance to building, leaves baby on street? Telegraf at place where body was found

A Telegraf reporter was at the spot where the body of a newborn boy was found in Novi Sad this morning around 7 o'clock. The residents of the building said the sight was gruesome, while the traces are still visible today.

"What is happening in our neighborhood? I don't understand how she could do such a thing. It is said that the child was stillborn. We don't know the woman and she doesn't live in the building, she went in because the door was unlocked," one resident told Telegraf.rs and added that she heard that the woman, M.K. (39), who left the baby's body behind, was intoxicated.

According to initial information, the woman entered the hallway of the building, where she gave birth, and then took the baby out and left it on the street, on a lawn near the entrance of the building. Although the place has already been washed, there are still traces of the gruesome event - there is a bloody handprint on the white wall right next to the building's entrance door, on the left side, while in the corner there are drops of blood on the wall.

Witnesses say that the entrance in Cara Lazara Boulevard was full of blood before it was cleaned, while traces of blood lead from it to the place on the grass where the baby was left and where a large amount of blood is still visible.

It is suspected that M.K., after leaving the baby on the grass, went about 100 meters away, where she entered another building. Residents there found her bloodied about half an hour after the baby's body was found and immediately called the police. She was arrested, but instead of being taken to the police station, she was taken to the Betanija Clinic for Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The police conducted an investigation in the presence of a prosecutor, and the footage from surveillance cameras from the boulevard was taken in order to determine whether any of it shows the moment when the child was left on the street.
