According to the local press, a restaurant in Ivana Crnojevica Boulevard in Podgorica, Montenegro, which is owned by a Turkish citizen, got demolished during the night.

As can be seen in the photos and videos taken at the scene and published by RTCG, the storefront windows were smashed while the interior was set on fire.

There is scattered glass and rubble in front of the building, the photos published by the daily Dan show.

The owner, a Turkish citizen, said that he "fully understands" the enraged citizens, who in chose this way to react to an incident that happened two days ago in the settlement of Zabjela, when his compatriots seriously injured a young local man in a stabbing attack.

"I understand people's reactions, they're right. If something similar happened in my country, I would have reacted the same way. That's why I can't be angry about what happened," the Turk told Oci Podgorice.

The police did not want to give more information at the moment in order not to alarm the public, Dan reported earlier in the day.

The police carried out raids last night in Zabjela after 25-year-old Podgorica resident M.J. got beaten and stabbed in that part of the town.

Many residents of the settlement started gathering after the incident, on several occasions shouting derogatory chants against Turks. A large number of police officers were on the ground.

A citizen of Azerbaijan, Y.G. (31) and Turkish citizen N.D. (54) were arrested on suspicion that they injured M.J.

A police statement said that a total of 45 persons - citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan - were brought in last night as subjects of a criminal investigation, while the legality of their stay in the territory of Montenegro is also being checked.
