Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, who have been walking to Novi Sad in the north of the country for eighth days now, in order to attend a large rally against (anti-government) blockades, left Lipovica for Belgrade this morning.

They should arrive in front of the House of the Serbian National Assembly around 17:00.

A group of 60 Serbs from the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija arrived in Meljak the night before, where they were welcomed by a large number of citizens, as well as representatives of the suburban Belgrade municipality of Barajevo - and so far they have covered more than 200 kilometers on foot.

Because of the march of the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, traffic slowed down temporarily on a part of the Ibarska highway.

On October 29, that group set off on foot towards Novi Sad to support Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and take part in the rally.

The Serbs set of from Rudnica and come from Gracanica, Kosovo Polje, Badovac, Laplje Selo, Dobrotin, Gusterica, Kosovsko Pomoravlje including Gornje Kusce, Straza, Ranilug, Partes, and will walk a total of 315 kilometers, along with the compatriots from Leposavic, Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Strpce.

They are carrying Serbian flags, and have said that their motive is to demonstrate support to their state and show by example that they do not want Serbia to be halted, because only a strong and advanced Serbia is ready to keep its people in the southern Serbian province safe.

Yesterday in Brussels, President Vucic stated that the planned gathering of citizens in Novi Sad has not been cancelled, contrary to what some media reported, and announced that the rally will probably be held on November 11, 15 or 16. He also said that today in Pionirski Park in Belgrade, people gathered there wish to greet the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija.

Ruling SNS leader and advisor to the president Milos Vucevic wrote on his Instagram account: "November 5, 5 pm, National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia - Brothers and sisters, welcome to your Belgrade".
