President of so-called Kosovo Vjosa Osmani signed today the decision to dissolve the Assembly in Pristina.

This was done immediately after Osmani held consultations with leaders of parties represented in the Assembly.

The goal of the meeting was to set the date for early parliamentary elections. The move comes only a day after the last failed attempt to form a new government.

Glauk Konjufca, who was PM-designate, did not receive the necessary support for the cabinet he proposed, in which former Prime Minister Albin Kurti was to serve as foreign minister.

56 deputies voted in favor of Konjufca's proposed cabinet, but at least 61 votes were needed.

December 21 and 28 have previously been mentioned as as potential dates for snap elections in Kosovo and Metohija.

The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza, confirmed after the meeting today that his party insisted that elections be held on December 21.
