Vucic reveals big problem related to agreement with US: "HUGE consequences unless they reply by Thursday"
President Aleksandar Vucic today recalled that Thursday is the Thanksgiving holiday in the US, which further complicates the situation concerning the solution to the crisis in the wake of the introduction of US sanctions against NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia).
"Unless there is a decision by Thursday (to extend OFAC license), the refinery (in Pancevo) stops. The consequences of that are very serious. Experts will tell you that it takes about 14 days to restart the process, and we'll tell you - it is always longer. Count on 20 days or more. This means that it is certain that until the New Year - and the question remains what happens after that, too - the refinery would not work," Vucic said during his unscheduled address on Tuesday.
Vucic announced that all details will be announced to the public and that the authorities will clearly state their expectations and plans regarding the further steps.
"We will provide you with all information and explain what we expect. The talks continue today and tomorrow - if it is not resolved before Thursday, the consequences will be huge, and we will discuss them very openly," Vucic said.
