Vucic: Elections in Serbia in late 2026, this will determine its fate - citizens should judge accomplishments
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said last night that elections will be held in the country towards the end of next year, and that this will determine the fate of Serbia.
He at the same time urged citizens to make decisions about who they will vote for with a cool head, and based on what has been done and what is offered to them going forward.
"I plead for one thing, dear friends - to make your decision completely cool-headed and in a rational manner. To look at what has been done, to look at the plans, programs and people who are able to implement them, and those who are not. And talk to your neighbors, your friends and let people evaluate it. Don't make decisions based on lies," said Vucic in Putinci, near Ruma, where he was attending the opening of a sports hall on Monday evening.
He asked citizens not to make decisions based on what they read in certain media outlets, but to make up their own mind based on what has been done.
"Don't make decisions based on lies - 'this one is linked with Jovanjica (case), the other killed children in their mother's arms, his mother is not his mother, his father is not his father' - and so on. Judge by the deeds. Judge by what we have done, by what we are doing today and by what our plans and programs are for the future. Judge by taking into account the one who has always stood with you when it was tough, when we had the migrant crisis, and when we had the floods, and when we had Covid, when we had every kind of crisis hit this country, and when for 75 days we have not had a drop of oil coming through the pipeline from Croatia - and you still don't encounter any problems at any gas station," said Vucic.
When decisions are made based on that - the president said he is sure that citizens will vote for "the best."
"I will give my trust to such people together with you," stated Vucic.
He also said that the coming year is important for the future of the country in many ways and that it will be decisive both in terms of bringing new investments, and building everything that is need for Belgrade to host EXPO 2027.
"And this (sports) hall in Putinci is part of EXPO. We have filed it all under EXPO, because EXPO must not be only Belgrade itself. EXPO must serve to lift up the whole of Serbia, infrastructure in our entire country, in our entire fatherland. That is why I am asking you to build together, that you submit your proposals to us so we can hear you, listen to you and that we can jointly make decisions about what it is that we will build in the years to come," said Vucic.
