President Vucic arrives in Abu Dhabi: I want Serbia to be safe and developed like the UAE

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has started his visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he will attend the official opening of Sustainability Week 2026, and will also meet with the host of the gathering, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Vucic arrived in Abu Dhabi yesterday, and was met at the airport by Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, adviser to the UAE president.

President Vucic posted on his Instagram account "buducnostsrbijeav" that he was looking forward to the meeting with the president of the UAE.

"I am looking forward to the meeting with my friend Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, grateful that he invited me to participate in Sustainability Week 2026, one of the largest global gatherings in the field of sustainable development, which carries the message of shared responsibility for the future of our planet," wrote the president of Serbia.

He stated that he wants Serbia to be safe, developed and built up like the United Arab Emirates.

"I want our Serbia to be like this beautiful country - always safe, developed, ecologically sustainable, an example and a leader for everyone who wants stable progress and friendly relations with all those who shares the same values. In this mission, our friends from the UAE have a strong and dedicated partner in Serbia, who will make a full contribution to the values set in his strategic initiatives by a sincere friend of our Serbia, President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan," wrote Vucic.

The program of the visit includes participation in a panel dedicated to partnership and cooperation in the field of energy, as well as Vucic attending the award ceremony for the Zayed Sustainability Prize.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a global initiative launched to present the best achievements and current trends in the fields of technology, energy, education and artificial intelligence within the framework of sustainable development.

It brings together heads of state, government representatives, experts, investors and other participants in order to exchange knowledge, present new strategies and concrete solutions that contribute to economic, social and environmental progress in line with the principles of sustainable development, the Serbian Presidency said.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 is taking place from January 11 to 15, with the official opening ceremony on January 13.
